Karen E. Williamson, MBA, is a senior executive with a proven marketing and business development track record spanning the complex health care and government services sectors. Her finely honed strategic planning skills, coupled with a solid understanding of the public and private business arenas, position Ms. Williamson as a highly sought after complement to executive teams charged with identifying and securing new business opportunities or ensuring the success of unchartered programmatic initiatives. She brings valuable experience and perspectives from the diverse environments in which she has worked — ranging from Fortune 500 corporations to start-ups; for-profit companies, and the Executive Branch of the Federal government, including The White House.
Ms. Williamson worked for 17 years in the complex and ever-changing managed health care industry where she developed marketing programs for Medicaid health plans and spearheaded the development and launch of Medicare products in three markets. She also held positions responsible for government relations, strategic planning, member communications, advertising and health promotion initiatives. Karen’s health care experience includes service on the boards of medical research and mental health organizations, MedStar Health Research Institute and Green Door.
Prior to joining The Grant Group as a Senior Consultant, Ms. Williamson served as Chief of Policy and Programs for the DC Primary Care Association, where she oversaw Medical Homes DC, community health access, and policy staff. Prior to that position, she was vice president for business development for Bethesda, Maryland-based Administrative Services, Inc.
Karen currently is president-elect of the Wellesley College Alumnae Association, serves on the Board of the YWCA National Capital Area, and is a member of Leadership Greater Washington. Karen has a BA in economics from Wellesley College and an MBA in marketing from the University of Chicago.
